YWCA Vancouver Announces Name Change to YWCA Metro Vancouver
May 10, 2011, Vancouver BC: YWCA Vancouver has changed its name to YWCA Metro Vancouver, effective immediately.
The YWCA wishes to acknowledge and be inclusive of the municipalities where we operate programs and services (North Vancouver and Langley), as well as those that we will soon be in (Surrey and Coquitlam). This name change will reflect these municipalities and help to clarify who we are and the communities that we serve.
“The change reflects our long-standing commitment to serving women and their families throughout the metropolitan region and recognizes new partnerships in housing, school-based youth programs and employment services in communities such as Surrey, the Tri-cities, New Westminster, Richmond, North Vancouver and others,” said Janet Austin, CEO of YWCA Metro Vancouver. “You will notice our new name on all electronic communication immediately, while signage and print materials will be phased in over the coming months.”
We hope that you are as excited about the new name as what we are and hope that it supports you in your discussions about the YWCA.
