Family Literacy Week - Let’s Make It!
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Family Literacy Day, a national awareness initiative celebrated on January 27 to teach families the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. This year the Province has proclaimed January 20-27 Family Literacy Week in BC.
Taking time every day to learn as a family is crucial to a child’s development. Just 15 minutes a day can boost a child’s literacy skills for years to come. Practicing family literacy also helps develop independent thinking, promotes confidence and strengthens family connections.
The theme for Family Literacy Week 2019 is “Let’s Make It!”, so let’s make the most of it.
