Job Description

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Work with clients of all genders/non-binary to assist them with employment-related needs   

  • Facilitation and workshop development, including delivering online workshops via Zoom 

  • Provide individual in-person and online services; familiar with and able to work with clients using the latest technology 

  • Maintain up-to-date information on labour market trends, job postings, employment issues, community resources, education planning, volunteer opportunities, and other relevant employment-related supports 

  • Conduct orientation tours with clients and provide a preliminary needs determination. 

  • Referrals to other YWCA programs and external services as needed.  

  • Be part of the community outreach team to coordinate and attend community events, meetings, materials distribution and support departmental career events & hiring fairs 

  • Work as part of a team to deliver comprehensive services designed to meet individual needs  

  • Provide post program coaching to participants, documenting provided services, including job sustainability support if required. 

  • Support and motivate participants during their job search and while in job placements to ensure that job retention goals are met. 

  • Prepares participants for position-specific interviews and conduct mock interviews as needed. 

  • Review participants’ self-marketing materials prior to sending to employers. 

  • Accurately report on participant progress and outcomes during meetings and weekly case conferences to ensure the success of participants.  

  • Maintain any required documentation of allocated participant files, records of service, and participant progress reports in internal and funder-mandated systems. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

What you’ll need: 

  • Passion for working with clients to support their employment needs  

  • Post-secondary education, a minimum of two years’ experience working in a related field, or a combination of education and/or experience 

  • Experience working with multi-barriered clients will be considered an asset  

  • Ability to work in a flexible environment and relate well with clients 

  • Knowledge of programs and community services in Metro Vancouver 

  • Understanding of the labour market in Metro Vancouver  

  • Additional languages an asset 

  • Strong team player, collaborative and takes initiative  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Zoom; LMS experience an asset. 

  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.  

  • The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
