Job Description

YWCA Changing Gears is a Class 1 Truck Driving & Employment Program for eligible self-identifying women funded by the Government of Canada and Province of BC.  This group-based Project Based Labor Market training (PBLMT) project provides an opportunity for women to improve their employability skills, secure a Melt Approved Class 1 Driver’s license and participate in work experience while receiving ongoing support from Changing Gears staff. 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Interview & screen potential Participants (online or in person) 

  • Workshop development and faciliation, including providing online workshops when required 

  • Provide ongoing program and customized training support to participants throughout the program as required 

  • Conduct regular evaluations of participant progress  

  • Maintain and submit timely, accurate monthly participant attendance reports to WorkBC case managers 

  • Assist clients with resumes, cover letters, interview preparation 

  • Encourage participants with attendance, time management and conflict resolution 

  • Assist participants in developing healthy boundaries, confidence, resilience and coping skills 

  • Attend scheduled meetings with program staff to discuss program updates & participant needs 

  • Other duties as required 

What you’ll need: 

  • Passion for working with self-identifying women entering a male dominated industry 

  • Ideally 2 – 5 years combined experience in facilitation, career counselling and/or career coach; CCDP Certification is considered an asset 

  • Ability to work in a team environment 

  • Advanced professional communication and writing skills 

  • Comfortable with all Microsoft applications including Outlook 

  • Familiar with and able to work with participants using the latest technology i.e.) Zoom 

  • Flexibility to work on and off-site when required 

  • Access to a vehicle is an asset  

  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations is required) 

  • The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
