Job Description

YWCA Metro Vancouver operates on the ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. YWCA Metro Vancouver also acknowledges the unceded territories of Semiahmoo and the Stó:lō peoples, including the Katzie, Kwantlen, Kwikwetlem, and Qayqayt Nations, as well as the treaty lands of the Tsawwassen Nation.

With a proud history of supporting women, single mothers, and families as they pursue their dreams and goals, YWCA Metro Vancouver continues to evolve as it enters its 125th year. A highly innovative and widely respected community service provider, YWCA Metro Vancouver promotes economic independence, wellness, and equal opportunities through advocacy and the provision of housing, employment services, child care, health and fitness, youth and after-school programs, mentorship, and a range of other services that support equity for women, girls, and Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people. Its two social enterprises – the YWCA Hotel and the YWCA Health + Fitness Centres – generate revenues to advance the mission.

This is an opportunity to deliver visionary, inspiring leadership to a trailblazing organization. The CEO will report to a governance Board and lead a multifaceted service delivery organization powered by a dedicated team of over 400 employees and hundreds of individual and group volunteers working across multiple sites. A strategic, dynamic leader who identifies opportunities and works to effect meaningful and measurable social change, you have led transformational planning and implementation with high-performing teams serving diverse populations. You have the entrepreneurial drive and operational leadership experience to sustain and grow a complex organization with a $35 million operating budget and significant capital assets, investments, and reserves. You are a compelling, trusted ambassador, able to engage a wide range of community stakeholders, including government, not-for-profit and private sector partners, donors, YWCA Canada, World YWCA, and other federation partners. Dedicated to advancing the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, justice, and reconciliation, you understand the challenges faced by women and families in our rapidly changing society – and the power of advocacy, creativity, and supportive teams in building the capacity with which to address them.

This audacious, forward-looking organization has continued to push the envelope in supporting women and families facing systemic discrimination and marginalization. You will build upon momentum in addressing evolving needs, enhancing safety, and advancing the full realization of gender equity. Steward this well-respected organization as it continues to support the community long into the future, and help build an equitable, just, safe, and fair society.
