Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager of the WorkBC Centre the Employment Coach is responsible for working closely with WorkBC Clients who need to re-attach or maintain employment in the workforce by assessing service suitability, developing and implementing a Sustainment Plan. The Employment Coach will support Clients secure, and/or maintain employment by connecting them with employers, monitoring their progress, and providing job coaching services. Working with Clients, the Employment Coach will ensure that a targeted number of Clients secure and/or maintain employment per month. Moreover, the Employment Coach is responsible for ensuring that data entries for Clients’ information are completed on regular basis in ICM and necessary trackers. Furthermore, with the Support of the Operations Manager, the Employment Coach will work as part of a larger Service Delivery Team including Case Manager, Job Developers, and Facilitators to ensure Clients needs are met.


  • Contact existing Clients to follow up on their employment status, confirm employment details, collect employment verification, and offer services when required
  • Input, edit, and update client information into the Integrated Case Management (ICM) database and complete billing         
  • Regular follow up with to provide support and confirm progress towards re-employment
  • Transfer data between different software applications, verifying accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain data integrity by following data entry guidelines and procedures
  • Work with Clients to develop a Job Sustainment Plan
  • Working with Clients to re-attach and/or maintain employment in the labour market, including addressing any Client barriers, and building on client strengths
  • Assessing Client and ensure they receive the appropriate support to re-attach to the workforce and/ or maintain employment
  • Work with Employers to market Clients for employment opportunities and to develop a job sustainment plan where necessary
  • Follow-up with job sustainment clients in a timely manner to ensure employment stability and offer sustainment services
  • Provide Training to Clients on job sustainment related topics
  • Liaison with colleagues to ensure Clients access to needed services
  • Offer one to one employment Coaching services to Job Sustainment Clients
  • Flexibility in delivering services through various channels such as phone, online and one to one
  • Other duties as required

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree, career counselling certificate, or a combination of relevant work and experience
  • Previous experience in employment services (WorkBC), and with the Online Employment System (OES) and Integrated Case Management (ICM) system
  • Strong employment counselling skills with a minimum of 2 years of experience and ability to work within a performance based contract
  • Well-rounded experience in Employment Services Programs working with Diverse Client Group
  • CCDP, CHRP, or coaching certification an asset
  • Fluent speaking and writing English and the ability to write strong Client/ Service Rationale that supports service referral/delivery
  • Up to date with the latest job search, career exploration/labour market practices
  • Passion for helping job seekers achieve their goals
  • Strong team player and able to show initiative
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment and relate well with others
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Second language an asset
  • A valid criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required
