YWCA Crabtree Corner Housing provides shelter and support to women who are pregnant or new mothers and who are in recovery. The YWCA Crabtree Corner Housing Wellness Worker reports to the Manager, Crabtree Corner Housing, and is responsible for supporting residents to create and update a personal wellness plan, providing emotional support, accompaniment to appointments, referrals and assistance to find long term housing.
Pay rate: $30.00 per hour
What you’ll be doing:

Provide Housing Orientation to new residents
-
Meet Bi-weekly with residents
-
Support residents to create their personal wellness plan. Check in regularly on wellness plan, and support residents to update it as needed
-
Plan and facilitate weekly Wellness Group
-
Provide ongoing emotional support, information, and referrals for residents
-
Assist residents to apply for subsidized housing
-
Create and maintain a resource binder
-
Provide accompaniments to resident meetings including family court, and MCFD and VACFSS as needed
-
Read and update client files and communication book daily
-
Meet with Housing manager weekly and attend staff meetings monthly
-
Assist other staff as needed, including responding to crisis situations, posting notices, letting vendors in

What you’ll need:

Experience working with women who have substance use issues

Crisis intervention skills
-
Trauma informed
-
Excellent communication skills
-
Appropriate boundaries
-
Understanding of harm reduction approach and culturally safe practices
-
Knowledge of social services policies and practices
-
Knowledge of Vancouver resources
-
Ability to work independently
-
Ability to work as part of a team
-
Previous experience with Microsoft Outlook, Share Point, One Drive, Relias Training, ADP Workforce Now and/or Safety line is an asset

A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.

The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time.
