YWCA Level Up

YWCA Level Up is a free, 12-week trades career exploration program for self-identifying women.

This new program addresses women’s unique challenges entering and working in the trades environment.   

  • 8 weeks of group-based workshops covering essential and employability skills for trades and introduction to the apprentice system 
  • Learn about the trades industry, working conditions and what to expect from the career 
  • Explore high-paying careers such as heavy equipment operator, construction, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, electrical 
  • Receive certifications such as Occupational First Aid, Construction Safety Training System and Forklift Training 
  • Onsite tours at companies and unions dedicated to employing and supporting women in the industry 
  • Receive one-to-one coaching, individualized training plans, job search support, mentorship and employer connections 
  • Transportation, child care and trades-related personal protective equipment (PPE) supports 
  • A self-identifying woman not actively participating in and receiving financial supports from another provincially or federally funded labour market program 

  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, legally entitled to work in Canada 

  • Unemployed or precariously employed and not a full-time student
