Pathways to Leadership

YWCA Pathways to Leadership is a free online program that helps immigrant and refugee single mothers build confidence, develop leadership skills and explore career or training options. 

Immigrant and refugee single mothers of any status are welcome. 

What participants can expect
  • Help building confidence and leadership skills  
  • Opportunities to network, explore interests and strengths 
  • Learning how to advocate for one’s self and community 
  • Opportunities to share common experiences with other immigrant single moms and learning ways to overcome them 
  • Learning about resources that address the challenges of single parenting 
  • Discovering opportunities to volunteer and build Canadian experience 
  • Gaining information on employment, education and training resources in Metro Vancouver 
  • Connecting with a mentor to explore career interests and options 
  • Help building a career or training plan 
What is the commitment?
  • 25 online classes from February to August 2021.  

  • Five months of one-to-one support from a mentor (optional).  

Participants who achieve a 70% or higher attendance will receive a graduation certificate. 



Online Classes 

February to June: Wednesdays, 9:30am to 1:15pm 

July to August: Two Wednesdays a month from 10:00am to 12:00pm 


April to August: Two online meetings per month (mentorship meeting schedule is flexible and will be decided between the participant and their mentor).
