Alesya Bogaevskaya Ph.D. (she/her)

Alesya Bogaevskaya, Ph.D., is an ACE-certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Can-Fit-Pro member and a Registered Yoga Teacher.

Alesya started her fitness career in Russia as an aerobics instructor and ballroom dance teacher while working in academia. Later, during her doctoral studies and research on population aging and public policy on employment at Virginia Tech University, Alesya realized how important it is to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle for national wellbeing. She moved from the US to Canada, and from academia to the fitness world, and became an ACE-certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, registered yoga teacher and Pilates instructor. Alesya incorporates her knowledge of social psychology, sociology, human kinetics and anatomy into her fitness training. She encourages her clients to establish realistic goals and action plans to achieve the greatest possible results on their journey to fitness and a healthy lifestyle.

"I have been working with Alesya for over 10 years. I am 75 years of age and believe that I am fairly fit for my years. My continuing goal is to maintain my strength, posture and balance as I age. My expectation is to continue to work towards these goals and beyond. I believe that as long as I have the YWCA and my personal trainer to hold me accountable, I will be able to be successful physically, mentally and spiritually."

"Alesya pushes me with challenging workouts and is also my biggest cheerleader. She gets me to do things I didn't think I was capable of and is so knowledgeable about fitness, nutrition and how the body works. My workouts with Alesya are my favorite workouts of the week!"

"Alesya provides great motivation and understands the issues that need to be worked on. She is committed to ensure I continue with my health and fitness goals."
