FITNESS ORIENTATIONS | FOR MEMBERS ONLY

Welcome to our facility! During this free orientation, a member of our certified fitness team will cover the basics of the YWCA Health + Fitness cardio room, weight room, and general facility etiquette. These orientations will help you as a new member feel comfortable on the gym floor and confident using the machines.

To sign up for an orientation, please contact Matteus, Fitness Assistant, mticne@ywcavan.org. Orientations are 20-30 minutes in length, available weekday afternoons and evenings.

Member Clinics

Free for members! The following clinics are special workouts or workshops with our Health + Fitness Team.

Registration for the Winter season opens on Tuesday, January 2nd at 10AM for members. Non-members may register on Wednesday, January 3rd.

YWCA SWIM COMBO LEVEL 2/3 | DEVELOP & MASTER TRIAL CLASS

Come out for a great workout and sample the YWCA SWIM COMBO LEVEL 2/3 | DEVELOP & MASTER class! Two workouts will be provided; you'll be split up into different lanes according to your swim ability. Workouts can vary from 500 - 2,500 meters. Program starts the following week in the same day and time slot.

Level 3: able to swim 50m with ease, familiar with some of the swim stokes, comfortable in deep water

YWCA Freestyle Clinic

This clinic will increase your speed, endurance and overall knowledge on how to maximize your workout or reach your swim goals. Only specific drills that pertain to freestyle or "front crawl" will be incorporated.

YWCA FLIP TURN Clinic

Guaranteed to flip you upside down! Come and learn how to do open and flip turns with coached technical progressions. Drills will be incorporated for you to practice this new skill! This clinic is ideal for those who are not familiar with flip turns.

YWCA SWIM LEVEL 1 | LEARN Clinic

Do you want to improve your swimming but didn't know where to start? Unsure of your swimming abilities? Have a fear of the water? In this clinic, you'll work closely with a swim Instructor to explore water management skills as well as gain a level of water comfort and confidence through swim progressions. This explorative class will offer you a positive experience and give you the confidence you'll need to float, glide, and self-rescue in the water. This clinic is designed for beginner swimmers and is a preview of our YWCA SWIM LEVEL 1 | LEARN program.
