Prism Employment Support Service

After two successful years, the PRISM Employment Support is evolving into standalone services at QMUNITY and the YWCA.

Those already on the waitlist to access the program will be contacted, and referred to continuing 2SLGBTQIA+ case managers at either QMUNITY or the YWCA.

This unique program was a partnership between QMUNITY and YWCA Metro Vancouver, and was launched to provide inclusive, trauma-informed services for individuals in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community seeking employment. In addition to providing pre-employment support, PRISM offered an environment of acceptance and empowerment, where participants learned new skills and developed and grew their professional network.

PRISM served nearly 300 queer, trans, and Two-Spirit  individuals with tailored support. They shared:

“I wanted to express my gratitude for the support I received from Prism during my job hunt. As a trans person, I felt seen while getting support in their program.”

“I cannot stress enough the importance of programs like these. They fill a crucial gap in society by recognizing the unique barriers faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and offering tangible solutions... Your work is truly life-changing.”

The YWCA and QMUNITY will each continue to provide employment support services for 2SLGBTQIA+ job seekers. We will continue to share resources and advance advocacy that ensures tailored support for diverse individuals searching for safe and sustainable employment.

2SLGBTQIA+ job seekers can access QMUNITY’s employment program at qmunity.ca.

We are grateful to PRISM program participants and everyone who helped make this special program a success.
