Child Care & Early Learning

High-quality and affordable child care is a priority for parents. The YWCA operates four early learning and child care centres across Vancouver to meet families’ needs.

We deliver a play-based curriculum, and staff are trained in early childhood, infant-toddler and special needs education, as well as first aid and CPR.

Our Application Process

Please read all the information on this page before applying to determine if and where your child is eligible, and so you are familiar with expected wait times.

Families will be placed on the waitlist after we receive a fully completed waitlist application form.

You will receive an automatic response acknowledging receipt. Please keep this written confirmation and note the date you received it.

Waitlist times vary by centre, but are approximately 20 months. This wait time is not a guarantee that a spot will be available.

You may email denisekuno@ywcavan.org two months before you need the space to check on your status.

YWCA staff will call to inform you if a spot becomes available.

We aim to give you at least one month’s notice. Occasionally spaces will become available unexpectedly and we may not be able to offer a full month’s notice.

If your child is accepted into one of our child care centres, there is the possibility to tour the facility your child will attend.

Citygate Early Learning and Child Care Centre

Located near downtown Vancouver
For children aged 3 to 5 years

Crabtree Corner Early Learning and Child Care Centre

Located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside
Offering free, licensed, short-term care
For children aged 6 weeks to 6 years
No online registration. Reservations for the following week are taken by phone only, each Wednesday. Please call 604 216 1655 between 1:00pm-1:30pm to reserve your child’s spot. After 1:30pm, please call 604 216 1650.

With a focus on supporting young mothers

Leslie Diamond Early Learning and Child Care Centre

Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver
For children aged 6 weeks to 3 years

7:45am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday

Child Care Fee

$200
(Program fee $1,712 with reduction from the $10 a Day Child Care BC funding)

Please note that for Leslie Diamond and Emma’s infant/toddler centres, all toddler spaces (15 months and up) are reserved for children graduating from our infant programs. New children are only accepted into these centres through the infant programs. The cut-off age for acceptance is 15 months old. Therefore, unfortunately, when your child turns 15 months, your waitlist registration will be inactivated.
