"My Momma gives me freedom to be." - YWCA Celebrates Mother's Day

"My Momma gives me freedom to be. But my Momma is special because she raised me."

Every year, we invite the children of the single moms from our support groups to be part of a special contest to write or draw something for their moms. This year's topics were: What would my mom look like if she was a super hero? and What makes my mom special.

There were a lot of great entries, and each family received a gift from our generous donors. Prizes included tickets to the Cirque du Soleil on Mother’s Day, gift cards to Walmart and makeup and skin care products.

Here are some of the winners, we hope you enjoy these as much as we did!

If you’re a single mom living in Metro Vancouver, consider connecting with a YWCA Single Mothers’ Support Group. They are a great way to meet other single mothers and connect with resources and supports in your community. Groups are meeting in-person again, and some meetings are held online.
