YWCA Welcomes Gerri Sinclair as 2023 Women of Distinction Awards Event Chair

YWCA Metro Vancouver is thrilled to welcome Gerri Sinclair as the Women of Distinction Awards’ new Event Chair.

Currently, Gerri is fulfilling her appointment as B.C. Innovation Commissioner, champion for technology and innovation in the Province by facilitating partnerships and helping companies grow across sectors.

Gerri has previously held senior leadership positions in business, government, investment capital, university research and innovation. As Managing Director at Kensington Capital, she led the $100M B.C. Technology Fund investing in BC start-ups. She was the founder of SFU’s ExCITE lab, a Visiting Scientist at IBM, and the founder/CEO of NCompass (acquired by Microsoft). 

Renowned for her work as an innovation strategist, Gerri has offered her skills to many national and international enterprises, including Bell Canada, BC Hydro, Vancity and Telefonica. Gerri has served on multiple corporate boards, including the Toronto Stock Exchange, Vancouver Airport, Telus, BC Telecom and Ballard Power.

Gerri has received numerous awards for her forward-thinking successes, including the prestigious Canadian Public Policy Forum Testimonial Award. She was named a member of “Vancouver Power 50”, a BC Business “Woman of Influence” and among the Top 150 Women in Canada. She was a past Women of Distinction Award Recipient and Judge and is the recipient of Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the BC Technology and Business in Vancouver.

This is the 40th anniversary of YWCA Metro Vancouver’s Women of Distinction Awards, and we are so grateful to have Gerri’s expertise and experience to guide this monumental year.
