YWCA METRO VANCOUVER BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2025 NOMINEE INFORMATION FORM

 

The YWCA Metro Vancouver (“YWCA”) Governance and Nominating Committee is responsible for presenting nominees for election to the Board of Directors (“Board”). We ask all nominees to complete this form to inform the Board recruitment process. 

Based on the Board’s current composition and future needs, we are prioritizing candidates with finance or accounting backgrounds and specifically seeking a candidate who can take on the role of Treasurer and Finance, Audit and Investment Committee Chair. Specific skills and experience sought for this role are outlined in the Recruitment Brief. 

The YWCA is dedicated to fostering inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. In selecting Directors, we balance skills and expertise with representation across age, ability, racial and cultural background, Indigeneity and within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We also value diverse lived experience in relation to our programs.

In keeping with these commitments, we are prioritizing applications from women from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and/or allies of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We are also seeking applications from:

  • Indigenous women (First Nations – includes Status, Treaty or Non-Status, Métis and Inuit)
  • Racialized and newcomer women
  • Women from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and/or allies of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
  • Women under 30
  • Women with lived experience relevant to the YWCA’s work, including mothers parenting alone, those living on low incomes or experiencing housing insecurity, individuals who are neurodivergent or a disability, and those impacted by gender-based violence, discrimination, or who have participated in YWCA programs or services.

Are you currently a voting member of the YWCA Metro Vancouver?


Candidates for election to the Board must be voting members of YWCA Metro Vancouver. If you are not a voting member you must apply here by the deadline for nominations (February 24, 2025). 

All candidates must agree to an interview with the Governance and Nominating Committee. If you are selected to be a Director a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, is required and commencement of a Board position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. If there is any evidence on the record of abuse of children or vulnerable adults, you will not be offered a position on the Board. Other offenses will be considered based on the nature of the offense(s), its relationship to your role as a Director, the elapsed time since its occurrence, and other references. Director

If you are put forward as a candidate for election to the Board, a composite statement of the information which you have provided above will be drafted and distributed in the next YWCA Metro Vancouver Annual General Meeting package.
