YWCA SLOCAN
The YWCA eagerly anticipates the chance to swiftly offer deeply affordable and below-market housing at 388 Slocan Street at a beautiful new 70-unit housing community centred around an inner courtyard. The building is almost at construction completion, and we will welcome individuals and families to move in this summer.
This project is a partnership between YWCA Metro Vancouver, Chard Development, and the City of Vancouver.
The City of Vancouver requires rents to be affordable, set at Rental 100 levels (non-market housing) and the YWCA has committed to maintaining this level of affordability in perpetuity. In addition, the YWCA will provide 14 of these units at deeply subsidized rents and offer these to single women and single mothers and their children. The building also includes an amenity space, a roof terrace and two commercial units on the ground floor, which will help subsidize the deeply affordable housing and fund the operations of the housing community.
YWCA staff will provide onsite wrap-around support and resources for the women in the deeply subsidized housing as well as connections to YWCA programs to support them on their path to personal and economic independence.
Capital Campaign
We are actively fundraising towards our $5.8M capital campaign and seeking donors to raise the remaining $1.3M. If you are interested in becoming a lead donor who could name this new housing project, please contact Bobbi Sarai Tanguay at bsarai@ywcavan.org | 604 895 5780.
