Single Mothers’ Services is looking for an individual to do combined role of admin support for our Bursaries and Emergency Grants program and with the Single Mothers’ program.
The role will include making and tracking payments to post-secondary institutions, setting up student sponsorships, reviewing bursary and grant applications, helping with special events and working with new referrals for the single mom’s program.
What you’ll be doing:
- Set up sponsorships and banking with post secondary institutions
- Make and track payments to post secondary institutions
- Review bursary and grant applications to ensure all correct info has been submitted
- Organize application packages and mail for bursary committee to review
- Answer questions by phone, email and text from potential applications and post secondary institutions
- Answer questions from YWCA staff regarding participant eligibility
- Present the program to small staff groups to promote applications and clarify eligibility
- Collect and collate feedback from recipients for donors
- Support Single Moms team with new referrals and admin tasks
- If position is extended to full time, candidate would spend additional hours supporting single moms 1-1, provide community resources, information and referral to individual group members as needed
- Other duties as required
What you’ll need:
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, including Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive
- Strong Excel skills including setting up and updating documents to track both financial and client information
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Good knowledge of community resources across Metro Vancouver
- Knowledge of unique challenges faced by single mothers
- Compassionate, empathetic, empowering approach toward clients
- Actively record of your activities for monthly reporting
- Ability to be at different sites for special events like workshops, bursary winner dinners, team meetings, including occasional evening and weekends
- Ability to work well independently and without supervision; strong goal setting, organization, personal accountability and time management are key
- A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
- The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
