YWCA Crabtree Corner operates in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, providing core programs and services for women and their families to improve the quality of their lives. Using a hub model approach, we provide a range of programs and services including housing for mothers in recovery, childcare and family resources that are participant-centred, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate.
Having recently developed a visioning (what do we want to create in the future) and planning strategy (how will we get there), this is an exciting time to be part of Crabtree Corner as we work with program participants to realize their dreams for this program.
What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Associate Director, the Manager, Crabtree Corner will be responsible for:

Overall responsibility for the leadership of Community Action Program for Children (CAPC); Single Mother’s Support Group, as well as Front Desk, Donation Room, Volunteers and Food Kitchen.

Supports the Associate Director with the Crabtree Corner Community vision and plans, facilitating and engaging the community/team in change, implementing improvements and new ideas that better support our participants and community.

Leads Risk Management and Health and Safety strategies and initiatives, including being a safety committee management representative, coordinating with other managers to ensure the safety of the entire building and co-chairs the Building Emergency Response Team Committee.

Participates in case coordination and support including coaching and debriefing on complex program participant cases and file management as it relates to participant intake, documentation, progress and file closures.

Provides input into program development based on trends and experiences shared by participants.

Oversees participant engagement surveys and collecting stories & data to share Crabtree Corner’s progress.

Supports facilitation of groups as required.

Supports Associate Director with funding proposals and leads most tours with the Fund Development team to develop and support donor relationships.

Accountable for budget development, monitoring and planning, for program areas responsible for.

Supports Associate Director with maintaining and improving the Crabtree Corner building (facilities management and capital replacement projects (e.g. currently working to improve the first floor.)

Actively role models and supports relationship building and conflict resolution within the building

Overall responsibility for planning and coordination of events, including Presents of Peace, corporate group volunteer events, etc. and oversees all in-kind donations

Provides direction and communicates needs to YWCA Rooftop Garden Coordinator

Other duties as required
What you’ll need:
-
6-8 years’ experience in a related role, plus a community college certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience
-
Experience coaching, mentoring and supervising staff, who are working with complex and multi-faceted client issues
-
Extensive knowledge and analysis of issues impacting women and families living in and around the DTES
-
Well-developed analysis of issues impacting Indigenous women and families and sensitive to the issues of Indigenous families and issues of families living in poverty
-
Experience with/training in trauma-informed policies and practices
-
Proven facilitation skills – individual and group
-
Must have skills in and experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation
-
Excellent communication skills
-
Knowledge of women’s issues, resources
-
A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.

The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
