Job Description

YWCA Metro Vancouver is seeking a Graphic Design and Marketing Intern to work with the Marketing and Communications team for a short-term placement to support the rebranding of our organization, Hotel and Health + Fitness Centre. This role is ideal for a student or emerging professional in marketing or graphic design who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment. 

The intern will support a range of tasks, including graphic design, content creation and marketing project implementation. The role will involve a mix of independent and team-based work and provides opportunities to develop practical skills in marketing, communications, branding and visual storytelling. 

What you’ll be doing:    

  • Design marketing communications collateral and visual assets such as posters, flyers, signage, and digital graphics using tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva 

  • Customize, refine and transfer branded templates across design platforms, ensuring consistency with visual identity 

  • Prepare final files for print, digital publication and production 

  • Organize and maintain design and project files, ensuring consistent naming conventions, logical folder structures and easy access for the team 

  • Contribute to the YWCA’s major projects, including project updates, correspondence and administrative support in preparation for our brand launch 

  • Contribute to digital marketing efforts by supporting content creation, visual assets and execution across online platforms as directed 

  • Assist with logistics and on-site support for photoshoots and other events 

  • Provide support for outreach and engagement efforts, such as distributing promotional collateral and helping with basic outreach tasks under guidance 

  • Contribute to additional marketing and communications tasks as needed, including research, content updates and administrative support 

  • Other duties as required  

  What you’ll need:  

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in visual or graphic design, marketing, communications, business or a related field 

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva 

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong navigational skills in SharePoint 

  • Strong visual communication and design skills 

  • Keen eye for layout, colour and detail 

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, especially in file naming, accuracy and version control 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks 

  • Interest in community engagement, equity and social impact 

  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.

Pay Rate: $23.18 + 12% in lieu of benefits
