Event Description

Being a parent is hard. Parenting in 2020 brought new challenges for everyone. The pandemic impacted single mothers even more intensely.

Not only are single mothers over-represented among the newly unemployed, but a large percentage are essential workers, such as grocery clerks, healthcare workers and nurses. Single motherhood has always been challenging; but they now face increased financial insecurity, isolation and obstacles to balancing work and parenting.

In a time when stress, isolation and uncertainty are high, connection remains key for single mothers. The YWCA offers individual and group programming to assist, inform and empower single mothers across Metro Vancouver.

Join us to hear from our program coordinator and two women who will share their experiences of staying connected through their groups. We will also learn about a brand-new support group for mothers of children with disabilities.
