Housing is a basic human right. Yet safe, affordable housing is out of reach for many across the region.
Housing is the foundation for achieving an equitable world. Safe and affordable options are essential for women to leave violence, pursue education and employment and have the stability to build the lives they envision for themselves.
With inflation and the rapid rise in the costs of housing, food and other essentials in Metro Vancouver, women – especially those facing intersecting barriers – urgently need more affordable housing options. Without options, many women are faced with heartbreaking decisions for themselves and their children.
Right now, there are 1,400 families on YWCA’s housing waitlist.
