YWCA Metro Vancouver Named Non-Profit Housing Provider of the Year
YWCA Metro Vancouver has been unanimously awarded the Housing Provider of the Year - Inclusion and Equity Award, by BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA).
Established in 2015, this year’s Housing Provider of the Year Award recognizes a non-profit housing provider that demonstrates a strong commitment to Inclusion and Equity in their governance and operations and was scored in the following areas:
-
Action to increase board diversity, ensuring representation of equity seeking groups.
-
Measurable progress in increasing the diversity of staff from senior leadership to frontline.
-
Intentionally engages a broad-range of residents in decision-making.
This is the second time YWCA Metro Vancouver has received a BCNPHA Housing Provider of the Year Award, having previously earned one in 2017.

YWCA Vice President of Housing Services and Violence Prevention Lisa Rupert says the acknowledgement is a huge honour and a celebration of the organization’s commitment to creating safe, welcoming and supportive spaces for residents, staff and volunteers.
“It is very humbling to receive this award. We opened our first housing community in 1979 and are now operating 14 housing communities across Metro Vancouver supporting women who are single mothers and their children, and we are always striving to learn and grow. We still have a lot of work to do around equity and inclusion, but I am very proud of the what our amazing team has accomplished over this past year and appreciate this recognition of their efforts.
“Thank you to BCNPHA for everything they do for BC’s non-profit housing sector and to Encasa Financial for sponsoring this year’s awards.”

The YWCA is working towards a future where safe, secure housing is affordable and accessible for all women and their families.
We are partnering with Qualex-Landmark Orchard Limited Partnership to provide 32 new homes for single mother-led families in the heart of Burnaby. We have raised 28% of our $11.7 million goal and are actively seeking donors to raise the remaining $8.3 million.
