YWCA Commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Racism

To commemorate The 2022 International Day For The Elimination Of Racism, YWCA Metro Vancouver's Racial Equity Committee created an artistic piece with contributions from staff, clients, volunteers, and friends.

This year's theme is 'Voices of Action Against Racism'.

The many hands on the tree, young and old, different races and cultures, languages and faiths, symbolize the collective ‘voices of action’ to combat racial discrimination and systemic racism in all spaces. 

The lifting and joining of hands show solidarity, unity and determination to achieve equity and racial justice.

The artwork is now on display at YWCA Metro Vancouver, 535 Hornby Street, Vancouver.
