YWCA Metro Vancouver is thrilled to partner with Sandra Robinson and her neighbourhood group, Vancouver Helps Ukrainians, in support of women and children who have fled the war in Ukraine. Together with volunteers, she is helping to find Ukrainians free housing in Vancouver, help with resettlement documentation and appointments, translations, and supplying clothing, furniture and household goods and toys for the children. Currently, she is working with 19 families and still trying to find free housing for some, with two families moving into YWCA housing with the support of donors.
Together, we are urgently seeking donations to cover the cost of basic needs: transit passes, pre-paid SIM cards for their phones, grocery store vouchers and funds to deliver a new YWCA support group for women from the Ukraine parenting alone in Canada. This group will be led by a Ukrainian speaking facilitator with trauma-informed experience.
Thank you for your support. Please check back often as Sandra is expecting more women and children to arrive in Metro Vancouver from Ukraine and we will all be responding to their needs, including offering additional YWCA housing units.
All donations are tax-deductible. Tax receipts are issued automatically via email.
