Job Description

The Associate Director Housing Operations – Change and Quality Improvement is a temporary, full-time position with the YWCA Housing Department, which operates 16 affordable housing communities across Metro Vancouver for women and for their dependent children. 

Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Housing and Violence Prevention, and in collaboration with colleagues from relevant departments, the Associate Director Housing Operations – Change and Quality Improvement will carry out the planning, execution and evaluation of a change management process based on recommendations from a recent Housing Operational Review that was conducted to prepare the department for ongoing expansion.   

The process will take place over a 2 year period, during which time The Associate Director Housing Operations – Change and Quality will guide employees through mapping existing systems; will create and implement process improvements; will maximize end-user adoption and utilization of new systems; and will develop and monitor success metrics.   

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Creating actionable deliverables for the change management plan; 

  • Defining what a successful change management process would look like and how success will be measured; 

  • Mapping existing Property Management processes; 

  • Collaboratively creating new processes; 

  • Ensuring changes to roles and processes are compliant with organizational policies and procedures, the Employment Standards Act, relevant funding contracts and with the Residential Tenancy Act; 

  • Creating a manual of all new processes; 

  • Updating job descriptions where needed; 

  • Training and coaching the team regarding changes; 

  • Monitoring progress of changes and adjusting processes as needed;  

  • Communicating with partners; and 

  • Other duties as required. 

What you’ll need: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 3 years experience in a leadership role, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience (work or lived); 

  • An understanding of change management principles, methodologies and tools; 

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; 

  • Excellent active listening skills; 

  • A demonstrated commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility;  

  • A positive attitude – adaptable, comfortable embracing change ; 

  • Ability to work collaboratively, cultivate a positive team culture and move towards a common vision or goal; 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills; 

  • Problem solving and root-cause identification skills; 

  • Ability to interpret contracts/policy;  

  • Experience in the non-profit housing sector is an asset; 

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, video conferencing software, social media platforms; 

  • Experience with Arcori Property Management software an asset; 

  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.  

  • The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
