Weekdays, 2 shifts per week if possible. We are asking for a minimum of a 3-month commitment, as it takes time for the children to grow comfortable around new adults.

Volunteer Description

Crabtree Corner houses many services under one roof, from transitional housing for expecting and new mothers in recovery to child care, parenting programs, a community kitchen and programs for self-identified women who have experienced abuse. Staff and volunteers meet people where they are at with support, resources, programs and referrals. 

Crabtree Corner Early Learning and Child Care Centre provides free, licensed, short-term early learning and care for children, available by booking. We are looking for volunteers to help program with lunch time routine; including set up, preparation of food; assisting staff with engagement of children in healthy mealtimes activities

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting staff with preparing snacks, baking, cleaning and tidying the kitchen area
  • Reading stories and engaging children with indoor and outdoor play
  • Notifying staff if assistance is needed with children
  • Other duties as needed

What you’ll need:

  • Must have a warm, nurturing and respectful nature
  • Energetic and outgoing personality 
  • A second language is an asset, but not necessary.
  • Foodsafe Certification
  • A clear Criminal Record Check to work with children and vulnerable adults will be required of all volunteers prior to starting.
