Volunteers would be contacted a day or two ahead of time when tasks arise, or when deliveries are scheduled. We would anticipate two or three shifts a month of 3-4 hours.

Volunteer Description

YWCA Metro Vancouver operates four childcares in the Lower Mainland, two of which are looking for volunteers to assist with general fix ups and maintenance tasks, as well as to support when deliveries of supplies arrive.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting staff with bringing in and storing deliveries of items
  • Helping with general maintenance tasks in the centre
    • Assembling furniture and toys
    • Light carpentry
    • Small repairs
  • Other duties as needed

What you’ll need:

  • General knowledge of basic home repair (no certification required)
  • Ability to lift approx. 25lbs.
  • A calm and kind demeanour when working around children.
  • A clear Criminal Record Check to work with children and vulnerable adults will be required of all volunteers prior to starting.
