YWCA Cause We Care House is fully funded

Thanks to our extraordinary supporters, our capital campaign to build YWCA Cause We Care House is now complete.

Located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, this innovative new development will include YWCA programs and services, a public library and a mix of 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom units of long-term supportive housing for single mothers and their children who are at risk of homelessness. The expected completion date for this project is Summer 2016.

We recently received two generous gifts to fulfill our funding goal of $10.2 million. One of these donations was made by the family of two local Chinese-Canadian physicians to commemorate their parents and further their legacy as caring and community-minded Vancouverites.

We would also like to thank Cause We Care Foundation, Province of British Columbia-BC Housing, Streetohome Foundation, BC's Ismaili community and other generous donors who have funded this project.

Next year, 21 low-income single mothers and their children will move in. The difference this will make in their lives simply cannot be overstated. Safe, affordable housing is so vital, especially for single mothers. It can be the key factor in allowing them to take the steps they need to build better futures for your children.

I wanted to share a couple of recent photos of the progress. More photos are available on the project website.
