YWCA Announces a New Women of Distinction Awards Category
The 37th annual Women of Distinction Awards will take place on May 11, 2020, and this is your opportunity to recognize an outstanding woman or business operating in the Lower Mainland.
The Women of Distinction Awards serve our community by supporting the YWCA’s 57 programs and services for women, children, youth and families. The event also honours the commitment of incredible women and organizations invested in the betterment of our society.
Do you know a woman or organization who deserves recognition for their unwavering and meaningful work in the community? Nominate them for an award!

Announcing a new category: Reconciliation in Action
This award will honour two unique women, an Indigenous leader and an ally, working independently and committed to finding a new way forward.
- They engage their communities in dialogue and actions to strengthen relationships
- They have made a significant and sustained difference across Metro Vancouver by supporting healing and building more just and equitable communities for all people
- They may be a champion or advocate committed to the reconciliation movement
Some qualities that make a Woman of Distinction:
- She shows vision and initiative to break new ground or old barriers
- She demonstrates accomplishments that help her stand out among her peers
- She is a leader and role model
- She actively participates as a volunteer
- She is recognized by her community for her sustained commitment and contribution within her category
