Strive

Strive is a 12-week program for North Shore and Vancouver youth, ages 17-24, who are transitioning or have transitioned out of foster care. The program helps with life and employability skills so you can successfully transition into independence.

Are you eligible for Strive?

Participants must be:

  • 17-24 years of age
  • Transitioning / transitioned out of care (foster care, group homes, youth agreements)
  • Working less than 20 hours per week
  • In need of support to move ahead

Program highlights:

  • Workshops focused on life and employability skills
  • Job search skills
  • Fun activities and experiential learning
  • Help with customized action plans and goal-setting
  • One-to-one support
  • Paid job placements
  • Ongoing support as needed

As a Strive participant, you will receive:

  • Transportation, food and other supports
  • Short-term training opportunities
  • Debt assistance (phone bill, Hydro, fare evasion tickets, etc.)
  • Access to the YWCA Health + Fitness Centre
  • One-to-one support

Now accepting applications and referrals.

Candidates can be referred by a case worker or refer themselves directly to discuss eligibility.
