A name that celebrates who we’ve become and where we’re going.

YWCA Metro Vancouver is evolving to become YWCA BC this January. Our new name reflects the growth of our work and the communities we serve across the province. While our name is changing, our purpose remains the same: advancing gender equity and amplifying the strength of women, children and families.

Why are you changing your name? 

Our new name, YWCA British Columbia, reflects the work we’re already doing beyond Metro Vancouver and positions us to be where communities need us. It also ensures our name matches our values today, reaffirms our commitment towards truth and reconciliation and clarifies we are not a religious organization. We remain focused on advancing equity for women, children, youth and families across the province. 

We’re proud to continue the same work that generations have trusted us for, under a name that better represents where we are today and where we’re headed. 

What’s not changing

  • Our vision, mission and programs remain the same 

  • Our team, leadership and registered charity number are unchanged 

  • Your donations will continue to support the same vital work 

  • Your issued tax receipts will still be valid 

  • You’ll still find us in the same places 

  • The YWCA Hotel (rebranding to Hotel Willo in January) and the YWCA Health + Fitness Centre will remain part of YWCA BC 

What’s changing

  • In January, our website will move to ywcabc.org, and our emails will change 

  • You’ll start seeing our new name and logo across our programs and spaces 

  • Future charitable tax receipts and contracts will use our new legal name: YWCA British Columbia. 

  • If you are sending cheques, both our old and new names will be accepted during the transition, but please address cheques to YWCA British Columbia moving forward 

  • During this transition, you may see both YWCA Metro Vancouver and YWCA BC in use, and they refer to the same trusted organization
