Event Helpers for Vancouver Job Fair

YWCA WorkBC is looking for volunteers for the 4th annual Vancouver Job Fair on September 26. Volunteers are needed to assist in the roles of registration, event greeters event logistics, and other tasks.

We welcome volunteers for the following shifts on September 26, depending on their availability:

  • Full day (9am-4:30pm)
  • Morning shift (9am-1pm)
  • Afternoon shift (1pm-4:30pm)

We will also be providing snacks and lunch!

YWCA Youth Advisory Council Member

Are you a youth ready to make a difference in the communities of Metro Vancouver?

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a grassroots program empowering youth in Metro Vancouver to become advocates for social change and achieve gender equality through media literacy. The YAC is a guiding body of 15-21 year old youth who are passionate about the following issues:

  • Digital literacy and media representation
  • Sexualization of girls and hyper-masculinization of boys
  • Intersectionality

Group Opportunity – Yard Work

YWCA Citygate Early Learning and Child Care Centre is currently seeking a volunteer group who can assist with general yard work and cleanup.

Responsibilities

  • Leaf removal
  • General yard-work

Event Helper

The YWCA Focus@Work program helps women assess their skills and strengths, set personal and work goals, and develop skills to obtain meaningful employment. YWCA Focus@Work is currently looking for volunteers to help out with summer and Christmas celebrations and assisting with monthly guest speaking events.

 

Gardener

YWCA Alder Gardens in Surrey provides affordable housing for single mothers and their children, linking community services in a supportive housing model. The 28-unit building has a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments, a communal garden, a play area and a common room. Currently we are seeking for volunteer gardeners who can help maintain our communal garden.

YWCA Youth Education Programs are committed to supporting grade 7 students with their transition to high school. These programs help grade 7's build their confidence and learn more about good decision-making and healthy relationship skills.

We need skilled and qualified volunteers like you! The goal of the YWCA Youth Education Programs Outreach Team is to spread awareness of the YWCA Youth Education Programs and to recruit volunteers to lead the programs in Vancouver, Richmond and Surrey.

Photographers

YWCA Metro Vancouver is a registered charity, providing a range of integrated services for women, youth and children, and those seeking to improve the quality of their lives. From housing, child care, and support to innovative employment, wellness, and leadership programs, YWCA Vancouver touches lives in communities across the Lower Mainland. We are currently looking for photographers on an on-call basis in the various programs in Vancouver, Coquitlam and Surrey to shoot photography for events and shoot portraits for mothers and their children.

 

Qualifications

Roof Top Garden Driver

The YWCA Rooftop Garden yields more than 1,000 lbs of fresh fruit and veggies each year! The produce is used to feed families in need at YWCA Crabtree Corner in the Downtown Eastside.

We are currently looking for volunteer drivers to pick up harvest from the Rooftop Garden at 535 Hornby Street on every Tuesdays morning and deliver to the Crabtree Corner Community Kitchen at 533 East Hastings Street.
Kitchen volunteers at Crabtree meal programs will use our fresh produce to serve Downtown Eastside Community.

Qualifications

Piano Teacher

YWCA Metro Vancouver provides safe, affordable housing for single women and their children. Low-income single mothers sometimes cannot afford music lessons for their children. We are currently looking for piano teachers who can provide two hours/week piano lessons for children in our single mothers housing program in Vancouver, Surrey and Coquitlam. No previous teaching experience is required.

Driver

YWCA Metro Vancouver is operating a 2nd stage transition house, a place of safety and support for women who have experienced abuse in an intimate relationship and their children. YWCA helps women and their children overcome the trauma of abuse with emotional support, legal aid and other specialized services.

Child Care Assistant

Description

YWCA Metro Vancouver operates four licensed early learning and care centres that provide quality, affordable care to families with diverse backgrounds.

The volunteer childcare assistant would support staff in caring for children up to the age of five years old in group settings.

Activities include singing, reading stories, making art, playing games and taking short field trips.

Volunteer Child Care Aides are needed to assist in the day-to-day running of YWCA Metro Vancouver's Early Learning and Care centres.
